Living On Borrowed Breath

Genesis 2:7
Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Two things stuck out to me about this that should really change us at the core of how we see ourselves and more importantly how we see God.

He forms us. He designs us. He fashions us. From the dust of the ground he stood on, he created in a moment His most prized possession….Man and woman. AND the best part…he did it with the master blueprint of himself. Genesis 1:27 says “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him. Male and female he created them.”

Every single one of us is formed, designed and fashioned by THE Creator, to reflect the Creator. A question for myself and for you this morning is this….Do I live as if I am?

The second thing that stuck out to me about this scripture was this: After Adam was formed, God breathed His breath of life into him. Not only are we formed by a master blueprint of God himself, but the very breath we breathe is His, and from that breath we come alive. I am living on borrowed breath. The creator gives breath and he takes breath. Let us not take for granted the breath of life he has given each of us.

He created us to magnify his beauty, and to breathe out His wonder. We are literally a picture of His glory. We are an instrument of his breath that gives life. We are created for His Glory.

Do I live as if I am?
